Holdouts: Outpost
Holdouts: Outpost
Holdouts: Outpost is the third chapter in the Holdouts comic saga. The series, Holdouts, is a collection of near-future stories about life on the US Gulf Coast in the wake of catastrophic climate change. In this future, the government has withdrawn support from coastal regions due to the cost of repeatedly rebuilding cities and infrastructure. Residents are forced to migrate elsewhere or navigate life on their own in harsh, unstable locales. Each chapters of Holdouts follows a different protagonist(s), chronicling daily life for those who are unable or unwilling to leave their homes. "Outpost" focuses in on a protagonist working to maintain a small subsistence farming compound in the face of unpredictable, rapidly shifting weather conditions. Her wife and child are forced to migrate north while she attempts to salvage the homestead and make it livable. Change, mourning, isolation, and the value of community are major themes in this comic about life during a climate crisis.
The comic is 52 pages, 8x8 inch in dimension, and risograph printed in brown ink on brown tonal paper throughout.
